TODAY IS THE LAST DAY to register for the Thesis Writing Workshop

Ready to start writing your thesis? The Thesis Writing Workshop is open to thesis master's students who have begun or are ready to begin writing their theses. Students will receive instruction in several different thesis-writing topics, have a supportive writing environment to work on their theses, and participate in an accountability-writing group to facilitate the success of their thesis writing across the fall semester.

Fall 2017 Graduating Student Enrollment Requirements

Each degree-seeking graduate student that plans to graduate this fall semester must be enrolled in at least two hours of courses eligible for graduate credit. However, a student would not need to be enrolled during their graduating semester if they have been assigned an "Incomplete" (grade of I) in a non-research or creative component course which is required for graduation and is the only graduation requirement left to fulfill.

NSF Graduate Research Fellowship Program (GRFP) 2017 Application Workshop

This competitive program provides $138,000 in Federal support for your graduate education.

Dr. Sheryl Tucker (Vice Provost, Dean of the Graduate College, former NSF GRFP Program Director and former Fellow) will hold a workshop on how to submit an application to the GRFP on Tuesday, September 19 at 5:00 in 108 NRC.

Who should attend? Undergraduates who are United States citizens, nationals or permanent residents nearing graduation; and, first-year and first-semester, second-year graduate students interested in or currently pursuing a graduate degree in one of the NSF-supported fields: Chemistry; Computer and Information Sciences & Engineering; Engineering; Geosciences; Life Sciences; Materials Research; Mathematical Sciences; Physics & Astronomy; Psychology; Social Sciences; Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) Education and Learning Research.

The National Science Foundation's Graduate Research Fellowship Program (GRFP) supports outstanding graduate students in NSF-supported science, technology, engineering, and mathematics disciplines who are pursuing research-based master's and doctoral degrees at accredited US institutions.

3MT

The Three Minute (3MT) is a research communication competition that challenges research degree students to present a compelling oration on their thesis/dissertation topic and its significance in just three minutes using just one static slide.

The Three Minute Presentation (3MP) allows students who are non-thesis master's, specialist or graduate certificate students the opportunity to explain what they do and its relevance to society in an engaging and concise manner.

Doctoral students receive NSCA Foundation Scholarships

Carlos Estrada and Mike Luera were named recipients of the National Strength and Conditioning Association's (NSCA) Minority Scholarship for 2017. This $1,500 scholarship is designed to encourage minorities to enter the field of strength and conditioning.
